Good Housekeeping Names Honda Accord Sport 'Best New Sedan of 2017'

Cited for roominess, fuel economy, safety, and more

Clearly Hall Honda Virginia Beach isn't the only one who loves the 2017 Honda Accord--the Good Housekeeping Institute, working in conjunction with automotive authority Car and Driver, has named the Honda Accord Sport "Best New Sedan of 2017." GHI engineers and consumer testers narrowed down a field of one hundred models to 25 and then drove those vehicles over 1,200 miles, rating them for value, safety, smoothness, handling, interior design and comfort, and onboard technology, eventually naming the Accord Sport top of its segment.

Judges were impressed with the Accord Sport’s interior roominess, impressive fuel economy, the convenience of the steering wheel-mounted controls, and its available Honda Sensing suite of driver assist technologies.

Sporty and sophisticated

Inside, the leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum pedals will make it clear that this is the Accord Sport. Stay connected with all the latest tech features, like MP3/Windows Media Audio, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, and Bluetooth® Streaming Audio. Pandora® Compatibility¹, SMS Text Message Function², and Speed-Sensitive Volume Control are all included, along with i-MID with 8-inch High-Resolution Screen, ensuring the Accord Sport delivers comfort, convenience, and connectivity.

Powerful yet efficient

Under the hood, there’s a 2.4-liter in-line 4-cylinder fuel-injected engine that’s capable of 189 horsepower at 6400 rpm. Even better, the Accord Sport is able to deliver all that power along with an impressive 29 mpg hwy³.

Active safety technology

To help make sure you’re always in control of your vehicle, the Accord Sport comes with standard Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control⁴, Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Dynamic Guidelines⁵.

Driver assist technology

The Accord Sport looks out for you even further with the available Honda Sensing suite of Driver Assist Technologies. Collision Mitigation Braking System helps bring your Accord to a stop when it senses an otherwise unavoidable collision with a vehicle detected in front of you⁶. Lane Keeping Assist helps you when your vehicle begins to stray from the center of detected lane without signaling, with the steering adjusting automatically to bring you back to the middle.

Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle.

CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will depend on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by high interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

⁷  LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
