Honda Teams with Fashion Experts to Develop Exclusive 2016 Civic-Inspired Driving Shoe

If you love the 2016 Honda Civic, chances are you have an eye for good design and an appreciation for looking sharp. If that describes you, now's the time to check out the HT3 Driving Shoe.

The HT3 Driving Shoe is a collaborative effort between Thrillist, JackThreads, and Honda. This exclusive, limited edition sneaker takes its inspiration from the redesigned 2016 Honda Civic, and pays tribute to the core aspects that inspired its design: high touch, high tension, and high tech.

The idea for the HT3 was conceived by the team at Thrillist, who tapped the style gurus at JackThreads and the experts at Honda to bring the shoe to life.

"We wanted to create a shoe that's unlike anything seen before – something that is as comfortable to wear as it is fashion-forward and futuristic," said Michael Vincent, Senior Buyer, Footwear at JackThreads in a press release. "The HT3 is a great versatile sneaker that elevates the basic functionality of the driving shoe and marries the design aesthetic of Honda and JackThreads."

Best representing the all-new Civic’s inspired design meant including high-quality materials. To accomplish that, JackThreads turned to sleek suede with metallic hints and a quilted leather pattern on the heel counter and insole.

To ensure a comfortable fit, the HT3 uses neoprene vamp that fits over the top of the driver’s foot and articulated nodes that wrap around the wearer’s ankle. If you couldn’t tell already, the smooth lines of the Civic’s exterior inspired the clean lines of the shoe itself. To cover the laces, JackThreads developed and used a suede shroud that fastens into place, and unveils a hidden Civic logo when uncovered.

Additional input for the HT3 was provided by Honda R&D America’s Jarad Hall, who helped lead the exterior design of the Civic Sedan in North America. With his help, JackThreads was able to capture the Civic’s “styling and fun-to-drive spirt.”
