5 Reasons to Get Excited About the 2016 Honda Pilot

The Chicago Auto Show may not draw the same level of anticipation from the auto industry as its Detroit-based counterpart. But if this year’s show proved anything it was that Motor City isn’t the only place to get people’s motors running. With the Windy City as its backdrop, Honda unveiled the all-new 2016 Pilot.

And while much of the attention will be focused on the 2016 Pilot’s fresh new redesign, we thought we’d bring you five more reasons to get excited about Honda’s latest SUV.

Powertrain: In addition to some snazzy new duds, when it launches later in the summer, the 2016 Honda Pilot will sport a new 3.5-liter V6 engine. This gutsy V6 was designed to offer a potent mix of power and efficiency, thanks to intelligent cylinder deactivation and auto stop/start technologies. What’s more, you’ll get your choice of either a six- or nine-speed automatic transmission.
Storage Space: Any decent SUV worth its salt needs to provide exceptional levels of storage space, and the 2016 Pilot doesn’t disappoint. Like the old Pilot, the 2016 version offers an abundance of storage up front by way of a center console that’s large enough to comfortably stow a purse or a small laptop. There’s also a flat cover that can easily hold smartphones or other personal items.
Cargo Space: Building on the 2016 Pilot’s palatial levels of storage space is a robust cargo hold that offers more space behind the third row of seats. And while official figures haven’t been released, Honda has confirmed the new Pilot is larger.
Passenger Space: You’ve got room for purses, laptops, and luggage, but what about people? Well, you need not worry as the 2016 Pilot delivers on this front, too. The 2016 Pilot can seat up to eight, and access to the third row has been improved.
Technology: If you’re after tech features then you’re in luck: the 2016 Pilot infotainment interface has been upgraded with a new touchscreen on most trims. There’s also an abundance of outlets, including an available five USB ports, an HDMI port, and a Blu-ray player to help keep passengers entertained.
