In a world where abundance and scarcity coexist, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, the Food Bank of the Albemarle, and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina stand out as dedicated champions, tirelessly working to eliminate hunger and enhance community resilience.
Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore
Serving communities in Virginia and the Eastern Shore, this organization is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing nourishing food. Operating in cities like Norfolk and Virginia Beach, they annually distribute millions of meals through strategic partnerships with local entities. Covering a vast 4,745-square-mile area, their unique approach includes empowering communities through educational programs and encouraging healthier choices for a sustainable impact.
Spanning 15 counties in Northeastern North Carolina, including cities like Elizabeth City, the Food Bank of the Albemarle fights hunger and poverty by distributing millions of pounds of food.
Collaborating with over 100 hunger relief partners, and engaged in 145 programs, the Food Bank's initiatives, including the Mobile Food Pantry and Backpack Program, are pivotal in guaranteeing reliable access to nutritious meals. Through this, they hope one day their communities will be hunger-free.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
Serving the Metrolina region, which encompasses cities like Charlotte, this food bank is on a mission to eliminate hunger through partnerships with over 950 agencies. Second Harvest supplies food throughout a 24-county region of North and South Carolina through a network of over 950 emergency pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and programs for low-income children and seniors. Initiatives such as the Kids Cafe target specific demographics, offering meals to at-risk children. By addressing systemic issues through advocacy, they contribute to a unified front against hunger, creating a network of support that transcends city boundaries.
